Beginning with breakfast, you’ll discover dishes that pay homage to traditional New Mexican cuisine. The Carne Adovada ($21.28) is particularly noteworthy, featuring tender meat paired with two eggs and served alongside home fries or hash browns, complemented by refried beans and a warm homemade tortilla. If you're a fan of huevos rancheros, don’t miss the Huevos Rancheros ($19.49), where perfectly cooked eggs rest on a warm tortilla smothered in rich chile and melted cheese. Each bite transports you into a world of savory flavors, marrying comfort with tradition.
As the day turns, Owl Cafe shifts gears, offering an extensive lunch and dinner menu that caters to all ages. The Kids Menu, boasting items like Kids Hamburger and Kids Taco, ensures that little ones are just as satisfied as the adults. For adults, the classic Owl Burgers are a highlight, especially the famed Chile Cheeseburger Breakfast ($14.03), known for its delightful heat and ample toppings.
While the food itself is a major draw, it’s the service that sets Owl Cafe apart. Customers frequently rave about the welcoming nature of the staff. Descriptions of servers like Megan and Renee, who enhance the dining experience with their attentive and friendly service, truly capture the spirit of this diner. As one customer, Christian Cosentino, noted, "Our server was an absolute ray of sunshine," perfectly reflecting the inviting atmosphere that keeps patrons returning.
However, not every dish hits the mark for all visitors. While some have found the green chile burger to be a bit soggy, they still appreciate the nostalgic diner vibe and recognize that Owl Cafe’s breakfast items tend to outshine lunch options. Further reinforcing this sentiment, many recommend visits during brunch hours for the best taste experience. The rustic charm, paired with familiar flavors and a sense of community, makes this diner a must-visit.
In conclusion, Owl Cafe stands as a beacon for food lovers in Albuquerque, marrying delightful New Mexican fare with warm hospitality. So next time you're cruising through Eubank Blvd, make sure to stop by Owl Cafe; where good food and great company come together for an unforgettable meal.
“ GIANT portions! We split the Owl Cinnamon Roll and I got the Southern Comfort Burrito. I couldn't even finish it all. Our server (I think her name may have been Megan) was an absolute ray of sunshine, super helpful, and made everything a great experience. This is an absolute must to eat at. ”
“ Low key diner that's known to be featured in "Breaking Bad" TV show. The green chile burger was a little soggy but tasted decent (not the best in town!). The portion of the fito pie was huge! My favorite part was their thinly sliced onion rings. The complimentary beans and green chilies were "yikes" (for a New Mexican!). It needs some more flavors. I heard their brunch items are better. Have to try next time! ”
“ I found this restaurant on Google while I was shopping at a nearby Best Buy. I'm from out of state and was looking for lunch. I took a Lyft to Best Buy, so I didn't have a car, and this was across the parking lot. Great diner! Authentic diner feel. My server was Renee. She was an exceptional person to have a quick chat with. She was attentive and personable. I gave the food 3 stars only because I am particular about my eggs. I ordered the cheese omelet, and I think it might have been powdered egg mix. The menu has much to choose from. It stayed continually busy. I visited noon time. It's right off an interstate, so I imagine lots of travelers stop in. ”
“ I used to love 50s diners as a child, so the Owl Cafe brings back all the feels. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on 06.06.25 and it was delicious. We were waited on by Megan C and she was AWESOME!! We were immediately drawn in by her personality. Further, she anticipated our needs before we even had a chance to acknowledge them ourselves. We were never out of coffee or water, and the food was absolutely tasty and promptly brought out. I would recommend stopping in for either breakfast or lunch. If you do, ask if Megan C is working and to be in her section. ”
“ Outstanding food and service! Taste-tested the carne adovada - excellent with plenty of heat. The huevos rancheros the chorizo and eggs, the tortillas and homefries were all amazing. Our hostess (Meg) was awesome! ”
“ Came here for lunch with a friend and we got two burgers. The food was delicious, both burgers had a lot of flavor, and the french fries were super crispy. They give beans and green chile as a free appetizer when you sit. The service was phenomenal, the food was fast, and our waitress was super friendly. ”
“ A wonderful dining experience! Authentic retro vibe, with neon, tabletop jukeboxes, and friendly staff. Lily, my server, was helpful with recommendations and conscientiously checked in with me during the meal. The San Antonio Green Hatch Chili was a delicious old school recipe. My Bleu Max Burger was perfect! Located in the Route 66 neighborhood, be sure to stop in! ”
“ I had arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was very much wanting to try a breakfast place that highlighted the chilies of the southwest region. I happened upon the owl Cafe. As I walked in, the sign on the door, caught my eye “special biscuits with a sausage and green chili gravy”... Needless to say, this was a first for me so I had to try it. First the biscuits. They were fluffy and fresh, With that neutral flavor that really allowed the sausage and green chili gravy to shine through. The gravy was phenomenal. The sausage was breakfast sausage seasoned very well with a hint of sage, the green chilies accented the gravy in such an amazing way the green chili flavor came through And balanced well with the heat of the chilies. The hash browns were cooked to perfection crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The coffee was wonderful no bitterness at all, very smooth full bodied flavored. I look forward to coming back and trying their signature green chili hamburger at a later date. ”
